Ninth International Catecholamine Symposium (April 1 - 5, 2001)
The highly prestigious I.J. Kopin Traveling Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to cover the travel expenses of health scientist investigators in the early stages of their careers who show extraordinary potential for furthering research about catecholamines and catecholamine systems.
Eligibility Requirements
The I.J. Kopin Traveling Fellowship awards are not restricted by age but are only available to investigators in the early stages of their careers. Awardees must hold a non-tenured appointment and must have received their doctoral degree within eight years of the date of the application deadline for the award (November 1, 2000). Graduate students are also eligible to apply.
Coverage of Awards
The I.J. Kopin Traveling Fellowship award covers the costs of round trip economy class travel between the recipient's place of work and Kyoto, Japan, the site of the Ninth International Catecholamine Symposium. The award may also be used to cover accommodations, registration, or other documented expenses that are directly related to travel to and attendance at the meeting.
Awards are limited to a maximum value of US $2,500.00 per awardee. The exact amount of each award is based on the actual costs of travel as projected by the awardee and agreed upon in advance by the Foundation for Catecholamine Research.
Application Package
All applications must contain:
- Application cover letter: A letter of no more than 250 words outlining how travel to the meeting will further the applicant's research about catecholamines or catecholamine systems. The letter should also include an itemization of estimated expenses for which the applicant seeks funding
- Curriculum vitae and documentation that the applicant is eligible for the award (e.g., copy of doctoral degree, letter from advisor)
- Abstract for presentation at the Ninth International Catecholamine Symposium describing original research by the applicant, related to catecholamine systems
